MERIT Beauty Favourites
MERIT burst onto the minimal beauty scene in January 2021 as a concise line of creamy, easy products from Los Angeles. They quickly became one of the biggest new names in the industry, with shades consistently out of stock and topping bestseller lists.
As a fresh-faced makeup fan, my comments and DMs were bursting with mentions of MERIT and I was curious to see how their routine would fit into mine (the number of minimal makeup options on the market now is not so minimal, after all).
Despite the hype and anticipation, the range still comfortably exceeded expectations and has carved out a clever space for best-version-of-you basics with a slightly more grown-up feel than Glossier. I’ve shared an overview of every formula they’ve released so far on my YouTube channel.
Unfortunately, the brand only ships to the US and Canada at this stage (I had friends overseas mail my orders and PR packages to Australia) but here’s hoping MERIT makes international shipping a priority so more people can snap up their sleek lipsticks and brilliant blending brush.

The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick is a fantastic, quick, all-over skin fix. Not a foundation, not quite concealer, but somehow it can replace both in your bag if you’re a fan of light-to-medium creamy, breathable coverage.
Brush No.1 is undoubtedly another highlight and a perfect companion for The Minimalist (or any creamy complexion product). With dense but soft synthetic bristles, it blends base makeup for a fingertip-like, seamless, natural finish.
Flush Balm Cheek Colour is a pint-sized bubble of dewy, balmy blush. There are five fairly sheer shades with just enough oomph to give your cheeks a youthful flush. Peachy rose Beverly Hills has been my most worn colour.
Signature Lip Lightweight Lipstick was the latest release but has raced ahead on my list. This lightweight, balmy, buildable, comfortable formula is everything you could want in a sheer lipstick. Start with berry brown L’Avenue.
